The International Foundation for Protection Officers is very pleased to congratulate longtime IFPO Board Member and past IFPO Chairman Tom Conley on his appointment to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Emergency Services Sector Coordinating Council. Conley was appointed to the ESSCC by the council’s chair and will serve as a subject matter expert.

The Homeland Security ESSCC provides strategic guidance and oversight to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for all emergency services nationwide. The ESSCC is highly committed to fully representing and building a community among the approximately 16.3 million people who represent the public and private sector critical infrastructure owners and operators critical to achieving the ESSCC’s mission. These include personnel who work in law enforcement, the fire service, emergency medical services, public works, emergency management, private security, and private sector emergency response and recovery personnel.

The ESSCC strives to protect the people, physical components, and systems necessary to effectively save lives, protect the nation’s critical infrastructure, other property and the environment, aid in the recovery from emergency situations, and assist communities affected by disasters. The ESSCC plays an integral role in assuring the development of a true partnership among all levels of government and the private sector, and is committed to coordination, communication, and collaboration between the DHS’ Emergency Services Sector community, the federal government, and other sector partners.
