Stepping up, helping out: Security officers in the news

 

Amazing compassion was shown by American Airlines passenger Sherman Yarborough, Jr., a former security officer, who helped subdue an unruly passenger while on the tarmac in Atlanta.

ROMULUS, Mich. (FOX 2) - Yarborough, who says he is 6 feet, 8 inches, and 360 pounds, had the help of another big fella to subdue the passenger.

A security officer patrolling the Meadow Park Apartments in Rochester, Minnesota, came across a group of intoxicated men drinking and smoking in a laundry room area. 

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The guard said when he told them to leave, one pulled out a knife and threatened him. The guard responded by using his pepper spray on the man.

The man - 34-year-old Abdinajib Warsame - was arrested on a felony assault charge.

Courage and a clear head displayed by a Seattle security officer who prevented an assault and rape:

KOMO News -- Tracey Baker told KOMO News that he saw a man Wednesday evening who was attacking a woman outside the apartment building, located at 1431 Minor Ave.

“You need to back off,” Baker said he told the suspect. He is a private security guard for Iconic Global.

The guard cuffed the suspect until police arrived.
