SYRACUSE, N.Y.

A Canastota woman has been arrested and charged with third-degree attempted robbery after a security officer stopped her from robbing a Syracuse bank, according to Syracuse police.

Alyssa Boswell, 26, is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center, police said.

Boswell entered the M&T Bank, located at 3640 James St., at 10:55 a.m. with a ski mask on, and slipped a note demanding money to a teller, police said.

As Boswell tried to flee the bank, a security officer confronted her and detained her until officers arrived and arrested her, police said.

Boswell wasn't able to get away with any money, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the attempted robbery contact the Syracuse Police Department at 315-442-5222. All calls are kept confidential and anonymous information can also be submitted with the SPD Tips app.
