The International Foundation of Protection Officers UK & Ireland (IFPO UK) is pleased to welcome the award-winning Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Barnsley Facilities Services as corporate members.

The Barnsley Hospital security team, led by Mike Lees CSyP and Lisa Corbridge MSyI, have won numerous awards in recent years for their innovative security programs and currently are very much on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.

IFPO UK Director, Mike Hurst CPP said “We are honoured to have Mike, Lisa and the award-winning Barnsley team as members of IFPO. IFPO is pleased to have as members, individual security practitioners, security companies and end-users, all of who can benefit from our range of member benefits and security education programs. Indeed, currently we are developing some new programs to support frontline officers, supervisors and managers."

IFPO UK is a not-for-profit, professional membership association which provides professional learning opportunities for security practitioners, to impart the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to maximize job performance and enhance career potential. The UK website, www.IFPO.UK, was launched in July 2020. The UK Director is Mike Hurst CPP and he is supported by an Advisory Board of experienced security professionals.

The International Foundation for Protection Officers was established in 1988 in Canada by Ron Minion, a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and owner of a large Canadian contract business. He served as its executive director until 1992, and was succeeded by Sandi Davies, who has held the office ever since.

IFPO has members in 68 countries and has security professionals in 56 countries studying its educational programs.

Over 14,000 individuals have achieved IFPO certificates and over 92,500 have achieved IFPO certifications.
