More than 70 private security officers will face murder trials in 2019.

In the case of Eddie Byer and two other security guards, they will also face additional charges
and could face life in prison.

Arrests of security officers for fatal shootings and other use of force charges is up over the past four years but so is the number of assaults on security officers.

Security officers in 27 states will begin felony murder charges in just a few months while security officers in 41 states will also be in front of local judges charged with felonious assault, aggravated assault and manslaughter charges.

Of the shooting cases, nine are extremely violent and egregious including one in Dallas Texas in November where a security officer stood over a man that he had shot and fired several more rounds into him.

Dallas police charged the security officer with murder after they say he shot and killed the man who was running away from him.

The confrontation happened at the Magnolia Creek Apartments in the Red Bird area of Dallas just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
