On Saturday in Oakland, Calif., someone opened fire on two contract security officers for the Federal Protective Service division of the Department of Homeland Security outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building. One officer was killed and the other seriously wounded. DHS Acting Director Chad Wolf labeled the shooting an act of "domestic terrorism." Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased officer, we wish for a speedy recovery for the wounded officer and swift justice for the perpetrator.  -- IFPO.

Here is a series of tweets from Department of Homeland Security Acting Director Chad Wolf on the matter:

Last night, an assassin cowardly shot two Federal Protective Service contract officers as they stood watch over a protest. One officer was killed and his partner is in critical condition fighting for his life.

Deepest condolences to the family members of our fallen hero & our thoughts and prayers are with his partner for a speedy recovery. Our law enforcement officers put their safety on the line to protect the American public and we owe them and their families a huge debt of gratitude.

Also last night, the brave men and women of @SecretService were assaulted by criminals who threw rocks, urine, and alcohol at our officers - breaking bones. These “protesters” committed such acts of violence while hiding behind the 1st Amendment right of lawful protest.

As the nation’s largest law enforcement organization, @DHSgov ’s top priority is protecting the American people and our workforce. I want to reassure the American people that DHS will continue to fulfill this solemn duty regardless of the violence they face.
