Here is a short essay from IFPO Board Member Emeritus Chris Hertig on the crucial role instructors play in communicating information in the IFPO's flagship course, the Certified Protection Officer. In order to teach the CPO course, one must pass the CPOI certification process.

The Certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI) process. It’s important!

The Certified Protection Officer Instructor designation provides the holder with an internationally recognized credential. This is increasingly important in a global economy.

The holder has demonstrated academic knowledge and experience; both in teaching and security. The theory and process of protection. Plus the methods used to impart that knowledge.

Acquiring it gives the holder “a leg up” in hiring, promotion and tenure decisions. It sets one apart from other candidates.

The designation bolsters the marketing of instructional and consulting services. It provides a substantial competitive edge to those who have attained it.

The CPOI aids the security industry by having advocates of professionalism in visible, impactful roles. They teach the classes, develop courses and design curricula.

Those who ARE CPOs and have instructional experience should seriously consider the CPOI.

Those who ARE NOT CPOs but have significant instructional experience should complete the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) process.
